COVID-19: April 2020 distribution completed. Sacem shows its commitment to members

Faced with the gravity of the health crisis and its dramatic consequences for authors, composers and publishers of music, Sacem mobilised from the start, with all of its teams, to keep operations running and help its members get through this unprecedented crisis.

Faced with the gravity of the health crisis and its dramatic consequences for authors, composers and publishers of music, Sacem mobilised from the start, with all of its teams, to keep operations running and help its members get through this unprecedented crisis.

To maintain its activities, and in particular the distribution of royalties, Sacem built out a business continuity plan to prepare to confront any risks it might encounter. Elements of this plan were deployed during the strikes of last December and January.

Since February and the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic, Sacem, while complying with the government’s instructions, has again implemented measures from its business continuity plan.

These measures, combined with the mobilisation of Sacem’s teams, made it possible to carry out the disbursement of royalties and sums related to our mutual aid program, with the distribution on Monday, April 6, of a total of €140.5 million.

Authors, composers and publishers of music, as well as writer-directors, dubbing and subtitling artists, whose income depends on the distribution of their works, have already been and will continue to be severely affected by this crisis for a long time.

Sacem is doing everything possible to ensure the operational continuity of its services and will continue to take concrete action to accompany its members despite the problems that businesses and organizations are confronting throughout the economy.

Jean-Noël Tronc, Chief Executive Officer of Sacem:

“Against the crisis we are facing, Sacem has mobilized to ensure maximum continuity of its operations, and in particular to be able to secure for our members the distribution of their royalties and to remain available by telephone and email, despite the closure of our offices. We are doing our utmost to ensure the continuity of our support for cultural players and have launched a program of emergency measures to provide the best possible support for our members in this period of crisis.”
