With 1.2 million jobs and €74.6bn in turnover, the Cultural and Creative Industries have an economic weight greater than that of the automobile industry and well above that of the luxury sector.
With over 7 million jobs and €535.9bn in turnover, the Cultural and Creative Industries have an economic weight comparable to the hotel-restaurant business, well above the automobile and chemical industries.
These figures are taken from two studies: Panorama of Cultural and Creative Industries in France and in Europe (Source: EY),
which studied the economic weight of 9 cultural sectors in France (visual arts, music, live performance, cinema, television,
radio, video games, books, press/newspapers/magazines), with two more sectors added for Europe (architecture and advertising).
