A new agreement with Soundcloud

June 2016

SACEM and Universal Music Publishing International (UMPI) signed their very first agreement defining the conditions for using SACEM repertoire and UMPI Anglo-American repertoire on the SoundCloud platform (funded by advertising) and SoundCloud Go, their new French-language subscription service.

The agreement covers 33 European territories to protect the exploitation of musical works by SACEM members and songwriters and composers represented by UMPI.

It was signed in the context of the DEAL (Direct European Administration and Licensing) partnership between SACEM and UMPI for multi-territorial licensing on the Internet.
Signed prior to the launch of Soundcloud Go in the UK, Ireland and France, it guarantees the protection of the rights of authors, composers and publishers and remuneration linked to the exploitation of their works on the Soundcloud platform.
